hi all - i got this email via MUSE:
Dear friends,
My name is Anthony DiBello. I am a recent graduate of Northern Kentucky University and I represent an environmental student organization on campus called ECOS. As you may have heard, President George W. Bush is coming to NKU to give a talk on science, technology and economic development on Friday May 19. This is somewhat ironic considering the Bush administration's history of ignoring scientific discoveries when they conflict with political and economic interests, ie. Global Warming. We feel that it would be a sin if a president such as this could come to any college campus in America and not be welcomed by a demonstration expressing dissatisfaction with current policy. There are many groups already planning to protest the Iraq War and US foreign policy. ECOS will be holding a demonstration to call attention to Bush's destructive environmental policies. We would like to invite
everyone interested in voicing their opposition to the Bush administration's irresponsible management of our natural areas, energy policy, pollution regulation, air and water standards etc. to please join us at the NKU campus
on May 19 to participate in our demonstration. We can use all of the support that we can get. A demonstration is only effective if there is a large turn out. We want this demonstration to be peaceful and completely legal. If any one person acts irresponsibly it will reflect badly upon the
entire group and will draw attention away from the message that we are trying to get out.
As of right now we do not know the exact time of Bush's speech. The secret service will not release the information until a couple of days before May 19 for security reasons. The rumor is that he will speak at 3:00pm. We would like begin our demonstration approximately an hour and a half before the speech. As soon as the secret service confirms the time I will send out an email letting you know the exact time and place that we will meet at. I am very sorry that I can not give you this information immediately but this
is the way the secret service wants it. We will be making some banners and signs and hopefully we will have some extras, but all the same, please try and bring your own sign or banner. Please try to attend the demonstration on Friday, it is very important that we show the world that there exists a large population of citizens dissatisfied with this administration in Northern Kentucky and the Greater Cincinnati Area. It is terribly important that we do this and your support on May 19 would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Anthony Thomas DiBello
